Some perspective on the haftarah of 8th Pesach.

Some perspective:

 טו הֲיִתְפָּאֵר, הַגַּרְזֶן, עַל, הַחֹצֵב בּוֹ:  אִם-יִתְגַּדֵּל הַמַּשּׂוֹר, עַל-מְנִיפוֹ, כְּהָנִיף שֵׁבֶט וְאֶת-מְרִימָיו, כְּהָרִים מַטֶּה לֹא-עֵץ.  {פ}

This nevua is about Sancheriv, whose army was wiped out miraculously on Pesach night.

Many people may not realize the full allegory  that is taking place here.

Sancheriv and his army are compared to a forest, each different type of tree is like a different type of soldier or minister.

.The forest fire is Hashem's destruction of his army

Out of the desolation of this destruction will sprout forth a new branch, Moshiach ben David.

The reason Moshiach is mentioned here is explained by Rashi. Even though Sancheriv does not conquer Yerushalayim, we are still not comforted for the .
rest of the Jewish people who were conquered and sent away by Sancheriv.

For this reason we are told about the final redemption when all of the Jewish people will return to the land of Israel under the kingdom of Moshiach ben David.

Free form translation:
?Shall the axe or the saw be haughtier than the person who wields it,
Does the stick lift the arm up that raises it up as if it were not a branch of wood?

Therefore Hashem, the master of all things will send  wither to his healthy growth and underneath his glory will burn a flame, like fire. The light of Yisrael will be a fire and the his Holy One (Hashem) will be a flame, and eat up his thorns and brambles (or be eaten by kinds of worms) in one day. His glorious woods and forest, from flesh to soul will be destroyed, as if a worm had eaten them.

The left over trees from his forest will be so few a young child will be able to count them.

...

Here the master Hashem who is the master of all things will cut down his branches with a blade, the tall ones will be uprooted and the high ones will be lowered down. Iron will cut the twisted branches of his forest and his mighty Lebanon trees will be felled by a mighty one (an angel or the merit of Chizkiyahu)

~~~~~~
And (from out of all of this destroyed forest) will sprout forth a branch from the seed of Yishai and a bud from its roots will grow up wildly.
