Is wisdom is greatened by foolishness? While in the verse, "there is a greatness to chochma (wisdom) over 'sichlut'," sichlut is often translated as "foolishness," a better translation would be "external wisdom" (chochma chitzonis). The word for foolishness is "shtus." So the meaning of this verse is that best explaned as that "true wisdom (Torah) gains some from external wisdom." For example, the wisdom of philosophy or the the astronomical mathematics used in the laws to sanctify the new moon. Similarly, the verse "And the Wisdom of Shlomo was greater than all of the wisdom of the early generations" is better translated as "And the wisdom of Shlomo was greatened because of the wisdom of the early generations." So the level of Chochma refers to higher, divine wisdom, while the level of Malchus, kingship, also termed as "chochmat Shlomo," refers to the elevation and purification of e

Sleeping Beauty as a Torah allegory  The witch is the snake, the apple the forbidden fruit. The sleep is the exile, the beauty is the Shechina. The dragon is the evil inclination, the prince is Yisrael, "bnei melachim". The kiss that awakens is dvekus in tefila.

Haman seduced the Jews to eat from the feast of Achashverosh just as the snake seduced Chava to eat from the tree. Our sages say that when Adam ate from the tree it caused him to worship avoda zara. Therefore Haman made himself into an avoda zara, Haman Gematria "tzav" which refers to avoda zara ("hoyil halach acharei tzav") and tried to get Mordechei to bow down to him, in the likeness of Adam. B"H We'll, not exactly, but he does bring a number of parrallel concepts in his sefer Shiur Komah, Torah Perek 23. Here is a free translation I made for your enjoyment. :) "The garden of his pleasure that he planted below." I say this concept as it applies to this physical world, not in its degraded state, as its subjugated to the nine curses that the land was cursed (by the sin of Adam), rather, in its previous (original) existence and the one it will be renewed as. Now, you might think to ask, "aren't the higher realms much greater than these lower realms? Aren't the lower realms subject to the process of degradation and decomposition (as all physical things are?) How can we say that this world is greater than the higher worlds? To this we answer that to each creation there are two facets (faces.) The first faces upwards and all together go up from above to below.
