The division of Korach is compared to the generation of the "haflaga," the generation of "division." Haflgah means division and the nations were divided when they tried to cause division in the divine by building the tower of Bavel.
Waving the Leviem to purify them is compared to the Akeda, the binding of Yitzchak, when he was offered "up" on the altar. Both are conceptually the concept of Gevurah - strictness, so their "waving" is lifting them up to sweeten the bitterness.
While the Bechaye says that the nisiim, the princes of the tribes, were included in the 250 men against Aharon, the opinion of the Tzemach Tzedek, based on Medrash Raba, is that the righteous Nachshon ben Aminadav and those with him were not included with them.
