When the nations accused Israel that they are also idol worshippers, like the other nations, Hashem says, let us judge the nations and their gods in the fire of Gehinom. Hashem includes himself in this together with the Jewish people. Thus it says, "כי באש ה׳ נשפט",  "for in flame does Hashem judge (here read reflexively, "is judged") it doesn't say "שופט", "judges".

Thus king David says, "even when I travel in the valley of the shadow of death, I am not afraid, for you are with me."
